Hydrocarbon Processing

Universal Dynamics has supplied services in transmission and storage, refining and distribution areas of the Hydrocarbon Processing industry in the design and construction of new facilities and the optimization and upgrading of existing plants.

From conceptual design right through to start-up and commissioning, our services for the oil and gas industries are concentrated in the areas of:

  • Electrical engineering encompassing substation upgrades, distribution and variable frequency drives
  • Process analyzers and instrumentation
  • Process controls including programmable logic controllers (PLCs), distributed control systems (DCS) human machine interfaces (HMIs) and SCADA
  • Related piping and mechanical design

Universal Dynamics is recognized for our expertise in the area of on-line process analyzer integration in refineries. Once a particular problem has been identified, the development of a solution begins with the selection of the appropriate analysis method and the analyzer. In some cases, an appropriate analyzer may not be readily available necessitating development of a new system from existing technology. Once the analyzer prototype is built and tested, we install and commission the system.

Our patented BrainWave® adaptive controller has also been used for process optimization at several hydrocarbon processing facilities. The petrochemical industry abounds with very tough processes to control; many are integrating processes that a PID cannot handle. Often these processes must be operated in manual control, eliminating them from the benefits of process-wide automation. Universal Dynamics as solved this problem with its integrating process version of BrainWave, our patented advanced regulatory control software.
